Shopping Haul

Hobby Lobby and Michaels Haul

This was not planned at all, I had to run some errands, get my nails done go to bank and UPS Store things like that. I did want to go to Michaels for one thing so I stopped at Hobby Lobby first because it was closer, that's the right thing to do right? If they had what I wanted I would not go to Michaels.

I entered Hobby Lobby and did not grab a cart because I only went for one reason. I did not find what I was looking for but did see ribbon was 50% off. I was good only walked out with 4 rolls of ribbon. Then I can not leave the store with out going to the clearance isle, I saw some great paper but not at a great price so I decided time to go, then I walked around the store for 30 more minutes. Got close to the check out when I remembered I wanted to get some fun foam. So I did go get and then checked out right away.

I entered Michaels with the same idea at Hobby Lobby, no cart, was there for one thing. That did not last long. I had to go back and get a cart. I found a clearance isle near the floral section but they had paper and other stuff we all love in that isle. I did find what I was looking for along with lots of other fun things. I found these cute bird cages, they were 30% off and I got them to put my cricut guys in. I plan on hanging them from my ceiling.
I also found these great ribbon holders from Iris, I have never seen these before, I have been looking for them. They only had two so I bought them both and all their craft storage is 40% off so I only paid $11.98 each for them. I can't wait to get more. I put my Martha Stewart punches on the top row. But has 2 rows for ribbon and also has storage containers that fit on the rods, you can buy those extra, but these come with hooks that you can hang scissors on if you want. You can see more in my video below.

Here is my entire shopping haul.

St. Patrick's Day Paper Wreath

I designed this wreath in Cricut Craft Room using the St.Patrick's Day Craft Room Exclusive digital cartridge. You can usually get these on sale. Regular price is $9.99 but that is for 6 Multi-layer images.
Here is the cut file for you but to cut it you must own St. Patricks Day and Create-a-Critter 2 cartridge you can buy that here. Hmm... I should get commission on that Provo Craft! Or at least credit?

There are 8 layers in the file in CCR and I named them by the color the paper should be or what it is in my project but of course you can do it any color you choose.

I suggest to watch the videos below to see full instructions.

I used the shadow feature to make the back ground and welded everything together first. The rainbow pieces were the first to go on and then the light green shamrock under the rainbow. Next all of the dark green shamrocks, all of the ones on the top right are welded together to make it easy to put them on.

I used my Cuttlebug on the gold pieces to make them look like gold coins. Then put the Pot of Gold together.

I used black paper for back ground and metallic black for the pot. I added gold Stickles to the gold after I adhered it all together. I then went around the edges with a yellow ink pad, so when I attached it to the wreath it would stand out a little more.
I inked the edges of the light green shamrocks with green ink. and then added a crease in the center of each leaf. I then used foam squares and added them to the wreath.
Here is the Leprechaun, I flocked his beard and eyebrows with Martha Stewart orange flocking. The pieces are little so I put them through my X.

After I got all these together I added foam squares to the back so they would pop up on the wreath.
I really love the way this turned out, I was trying to think of more ways to embellish it, but to tell you the truth I got a late start on this and finished it about 2 am so my brain was done. If you have any ideas or make one please share it with me.

This first video only shows the cut file and how to cut it in Cricut Craft Room.

This second video you will see how to start the wreath and put together the Leprechaun and flocked the beard and eyebrows. You will also see the paper used.

This third video shows how to put the rest of wreath together.

My New Toy From HSN

The first video is a small shopping haul from JoAnns and then shows my new toy.

Ok, if you watched it then you know I got a new die cutting machine. No I will never give up my Cricuts, I LOVE my cricuts! I will still make videos with my cricuts but just had to do a few with my new machine.

Here is a tutorial for beginners, After I figured out how to load the paper I thought I would do a video because it took a few minutes to figure it out and saw where one person never figured it out and was sending it back. It is different than the Cricut, I am use to the Cricut so it takes a minute to learn something new. There are not many videos on this machine yet so I will be making more.

Swinging Bird Cage card

I found this card and cut file in the Cricut Project Center. Here is the link to what I loved. I have to give credit to Flo who made this card and here is her blog.

This is made from the Creative Cards Cricut cartridge that is only free until Wednesday so if you want to cut it get busy, cut a few and then you can save for later to embellish them. The cards I made are not totally embellished, I just made the card simple for now and may finish later.

There are lots of pictures, I made 2 cards with different papers. I also made a video at the bottom.

The picture to the right shows how I hung the bird cage. I used invisible thread and put an eyelet through the cage and and hung it on a brad in the card.  I inked the edges of the card and the birds. The cut file also has flowers and lots of extra birds, I may add to cards later.

Here is the cut file to down load.

The paper I used was from Close To My Heart I get from
The first one is X7162B Pear & Partridge and the black and white card it X7165B For Always.
If you order from Carol she has a Mystery Hostess every month and you could win and get extra stuff and hostess points.

I used the FREE cut this week for Creatve Cards, but I did not make a card. I used the window image and stretched it to almost 15" to hang on my wall.
I also made the window box and actual box and used acetate as glass and put a piece of 8.5x11" printed paper of a beach scene behind it so I am always looking at the beach from my craft room.

I have the cut file here for download and as long as you cut before Feb 20, 2013 it is free in CCR. After that you will have to own Creative Cards Cricut cartridge.

I inked the edges of the window with silver ink from Martha Stewart and the box after it was put together with a brown ink. I attached box with Zig glue and 3 eyelets just to be safe. I did not think glue alone would hold up after hanging it on the wall.

I used foam squares on the back of window to attach the beach scene so it would not be flat against the window. After box is attached I moved it off the edge of the table to get the back of window as flat as possible.

I would love to see what you can do with this, or any of the free cuts this week. You can link your project up here in my last blog post. Some ideas for the window, add curtains, fill box with flowers, add photos behind window, put it over a mirror, the possibilities are endless on what you can do.

As always full instructions are in the video.

Here is an Awesome project the Cricut Design team did on an explosion box. I have been wanting to make one of these for a while, I even bought the minibooks to make it but just haven't done this yet. Now maybe I will.

I would love to see what you make from this weeks cuts. You can link up the project you make from any free cut this week.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day to all my followers!
Thank you so much for following me, I really appreciate you all and love your comments, keep them coming.

I have showed you all the Valentines I made this year so I am bringing back a wreath I made last year. This is from Jan 22, 2012 I have this wreath hanging on my front door right now.

Paper Valentine Wreath

Valentine Wreath #2
I designed this and am very happy with it. My last wreath was ok, but still not so sure. This one I love and it is all cardstock, with some stickels and adhesives, I also used Cuttlebug on the red hearts. I used 4 Cricut Cartridges, Cricut Craft Room Basics, Cupcake Wrappers, Holiday Cakes, Elegant Cakes.

Here is the cutfile, I did not group all the images together so if you want to change the size, group them first. If you mess it up by moving things on accident just redownload the file.
I have a video under all these pics.
If you do not know how to download and then upload files to CCR here is a link to show you how.

Zebra Print Light Switches

when I was preparing to paint my new craft room I thought what am I going to do with these ugly plate covers for the light and electric. I could not leave them the same with purple glittering walls. I could cover them in glitter, but I also love zebra print, in case you could not tell by my blog. So I thought, I have zebra wrapping paper, so I decided to wrap them and add decoupage over them. I love the way they came out and made a video so you can see how to do it too.

Here is the video.

Valentine Window Treat boxes

I made some treat boxes for Valentines Day for a couple that are my hair clients coming in on Valentines Day then they are spending the week end in Chicago. They are so nice to me I wanted to give them treats.

I made these with Tags, Bags, Boxes and More, the first one and the digital version is on sale right now, I never was lucky enough to get the physical cartridge but the digital does great. I also used Valentine Card #07 I bought that on sale too but the regular price is only $1.99 and as you can see you can do more with it than just make a card.
I used Cricut Craft Room Basics for the scalloped heart, I used the heart from the window and put on a side and made another one for the other side. 2 sides are the same, I used the Cuttlebug on the hearts and inked the edges of pattern paper and hearts, used foam squares to pop out the hearts.
I used acetate, I think that is what it's called, I keep all the packaging from the cuttlebug folders and cricut cartridges, I have never used them before so I have tons in the basement, I cut them to size and ran through cuttlebug. I also added heart shaped rhinestones.

I made a cut file for CCR you can download.

I made a video, located under the last picture.

Dinning room to Craft room transformation.

About a week ago I was contemplating moving the paper crafting part of my craft room to my dinning room. I was thinking about what a waste my dinning room was and it was beginning to be a catch all room. I know you understand what I am saying. I do not cook and never plan on actually having a formal dinner party, I would much rather have a craft party or would settle for a game night. I do have a china cabinet only because my mom and step dad had it in storage and decided to get rid of the storage so asked me if I wanted it. Sure I have a dinning room now. I said. Well, watch the video to see my so called dinning room.

To start the transformation I painted the chandelier, I do rent this house, this is owned by my land lord but I do think I improved it so hopefully he will be ok with it. I do plan on staying a while. It's only paint.

It was a brown color before. I had no idea how to take it down in order to spray paint it as I was thinking. My sister volunteered her husband to take it down but it would be a week. I am very impatient and wanting it done now so I went to Menards and bought the paint and had to go to Lowes to find the glitter made for paint. I painted it with a brush, while it was still in place, just stood on a kitchen chair. I have no time to be waiting for no man.

This is the little can of paint I used for chandelier and you can see the glitter I poured on top before I mixed it in. You can see the brand of paint in video. The color is Sterling Silver I think it's Rustoleum metalics.
This is the glitter I mixed into the paint for chandelier and walls. My Lowes only carried gold and silver but I think it says it comes in many colors. It was around $6 I bought 2.

Here is the paint color, I brought my Cricut purple end cap into Menards so they could match the paint. They did a great job, it really does match.
Here is the picture I posted on Facebook Superbowl Sunday asking for help from tall friends. I got no takes so I tackled this one by my self on a wobbly ladder I also inherited from my mom's storage. I have 10' ceilings so I had sore legs after taping the ceilings and trim on that awful ladder and then painting 10' walls. Then once the painting was done I had to carry everything down stairs and when you have 10' ceilings there are more steps. So needless to say I got my much needed exercise in for the week.

Here are the finished pictures. I still have more to do, decorate the walls and such, and I would like 2 6' tables so people can come craft with me. Watch the video below to see the room before during and after.
