Mother-to-Be Crown

I use the Cricut craft room (what a surprise) and the 3 Birds Cricut cartridge Life's a Party, I just fell in love with this cart. If you had 1 cart to buy this is the one you need. Watch the video.

As always I made a cut file for CCR and an instructional video. One of my coworkers is expecting for the first time so I am bringing this to work and make her wear it, I hope she lets me take a picture, I will post later if she does.

Exploring Cricut Challenge

Here was the challenge for the Design Team.

Challenge # 9   Monday, Jan 30  Cricut 1, 2, 3   You may do a card, layout, or papercraft using
1 ribbon, 2 cricut cuts, 3 jewels, buttons, or brads in any colors or theme you want.

You are also welcome to join the challenge and link your project. And you could win this.

So this is what I did. I made a shape card using the Onesie in the Cricut Craft Room Basics Cartridge, I welded 2 together to make the card. I used 1 ribbon, pink that says it's a girl, 2 cricut cuts, 1 is the onsie and the other one is a flower from the Flower Shoppe cartridge. I used 3 pink buttons on the onesie.

I have a cut file for download for the onesie card, anyone can use it because it is made using the free cartridge in  CCR.

Here is a video of how I used CCR and put it together.

Shopping Haul

This is mostly from Hobby Lobby, there are things from Cricut direct, HSN and Dollar Tree also. You will see cartridges and more. Some much needed paper. Ha Ha yeah right, it was not needed it just jumped in the cart but it is so cute. There is a few new things in there not just carts and paper.

Peace-Love-Happiness Wreath

This is my project as part of the Exploring Cricut Design Team. That is a great blog to get inspiration daily and join in on some challenges.

I designed this using the Groovy Times Cricut cartridge and Cricut Craft Room. It took me 4 hours just to design it with all 7 layers and it was difficult deciding what should be what color and then getting it on the right layer so I could cut it all out on each layer where it goes on the project.
If you watch the first video you will understand what I mean.

This project has 7 layers, I used 12 by 12 paper, I took the first 2  mat layers off the cutting mats, but then the rest I left on the mat until I was ready to adhere to the project, so I used 5 mats for this wreath.

The first video is a CCR tutorial and I show you about fill mode so you can see the colors you want to cut the paper in, and much more about layering in CCR, you will also learn from my mistakes in all the videos. I have a link to the next video at the end of each video, so you can continue to the next video easily.

Here is the cut file you can download to CCR.
Here is a link to directions on how to download and upload CCR files.

Here is the first video, there is a link to the next video at the end of each video. This first video is a CCR tutorial but for the old version of CCR. the second video starts the wreath.

Cricut Infomercial

Here is an upcoming infomercial on the Cricut Mini, the prices are not there yet. I am wondering what that special price will be. But id you don't have a cricut yet this maybe just what your looking for.

Challenge Me #12

Here was my challenge:

Barb A.Jan 16, 2012 08:16 PM
Hi, Melody, Could you make a valentine card using Jasmine? I have that cartridge too; but, have never used it! :-( I guess I need some ideas. Can you help? Thanks in advance.

She also suggested this:

Barb A.Jan 6, 2012 07:36 PM
How about an "S" or "Z" fold birthday card using the "Dude" cartridge? Thanks for sharing your ideas and talents with us.
I thought I would do this and looked through the
"Dude" folder of images and could not decide, it just wasn't in me today to use Dude so I decide to combine the two. I have cut file and video along with it.

I used the heart from Cricut Craft Room Basics  and just made many hearts and resized them. The "I Love You" is from Jasmine cartridge. You can watch the video to see how I put it all together and what I used.

If you want to challenge me and be in the drawing for a free Paper Doll Dress Up cricut cartridge you need to suggest something before the end of January. Click here to see the rules. I will then draw a winner. I may not do all the suggestions before then but I will still try to do them all.

Shopping Haul Time

Yes, I do realize I have a problem. But I do not use credit cards just my debit card. So for those of you worried I am buying everything on sale. it's even hard for me to find something to use my coupons on because everything I want is on sale. So here my latest haul from Joanns and Michaels. I will have another one after all my new cartridges come in and I will share the books with you. I know I need to use the ones I have first. But they were on sale. I got Superman for $14.95 this morning online.

Paper Valentine Wreath

Valentine Wreath #2
I designed this and am very happy with it. My last wreath was ok, but still not so sure. This one I love and it is all cardstock, with some stickels and adhesives, I also used Cuttlebug on the red hearts. I used 4 Cricut Cartridges, Cricut Craft Room Basics, Cupcake Wrappers, Holiday Cakes, Elegant Cakes.
I have not used 3 of the four carts so yeah for me using what I have.

Here is the cutfile, I did not group all the images together so if you want to change the size, group them first. If you mess it up by moving things on accident just redownload the file.
I have a video under all these pics.
If you do not know how to download and then upload files to CCR here is a link to show you how.

Valentine Wreath 1

I took a Styrofoam heart and wrapped in glitter tulle and then pinned flowers from Flower Shoppe cartridge and the glued on rhinestones.
Here is the cut file.

This first video shows how I made the flowers only, I also used the inside cut of flower that is normally thrown away. All flowers were cut at one size but I show you how to make them look different.

This next video will show a glimpse of how I made then and shows how I wrapped and pinned and glued things on.

Valentine Challenge

Thia was a challenge from Curt Jensen, the creator of some of the Cricut cartridges and the cricut vinyl collectables. Here is is blog.

The challenge was to use one of his cartridges and make a Valentine project. So I thought I would use Space Party to show it's not just for a kids party, there are many uses for this cartridge.
Here is the cut file for CCR.

Here is a video tutorial.

Cricut Help

I found this and thought I would share, this is just a guide to help you cut other materials. Click Here for January Questions and Answers with Provocraft.

2 Shopping Hauls

I split these up because it would be too long. So I did one from Michaels and then did one from Joanns, there are cricut carts in both. I think I might stop for a while but can't pass up a good sale.

Exploring Cricut Challenge Time Again

The Challenge was to do a birthday project with Red, Blue, White, Yellow, and Green only it was hard for me to not incorporate purple or pink, I also wanted orange, you know when you can't use something you want too.

You can join in on the challenge and have a chance to win a great prize. http://exploringcricut.blogspot.com/

I made this Birthday card with presents and balloons, my favorite things, using the Life's a Party cartridge. I embossed the metallic white paper with my cuttlebug and a folder from the paper studio I got at Hobby Lobby. Some of the balloons and two of the presents are popped up with 3D foam squares. On the inside it says Happy Birthday from the same cartridge.

Here is the cut file for CCR I would love for you to cut the images and rearrange them for your own card.

Challenge Me #11

This is a more simple birthday card.

Here was the challenge:
Barb A.Jan 4, 2012 08:03 PM
How about using Martha Stewart's Elegant Cake Art cartridge for a birthday card? Thanks for sharing your ideas and talents with us. I really enjoy your videos.
So that is what I made, I also used the Cuttlebug folder Stylized Flowers. I popped up the flowers and birthday phrase and used Glossy accents on them. I did not make a video on this but if you have questions let me know.

Here is the cut file for CCR. in the cut file you will find a boarder that I decided not to use on front, I may put it on the inside.

If you want to challenge me and be in the drawing for a free Paper Doll Dress Up cricut cartridge you need to suggest something before the end of January. Click here to see the rules. I will then draw a winner. I may not do all the suggestions before then but I will still try to do them all.

Good Luck

Micheals Coupon

I see another Shopping Haul in my near future. Monday I need to take Mandi to the groomer and I need to go to UPS and the bank, and now Michaels, look at this coupon! Why do they do this to us? Joanns has a great sale next week too. I think I have enough supplies to last the rest of the year. I guess I better get busy and use up what I have so I can buy more.

So I am sharing my coupon with you, it's only good Monday the 16th so print and cut, or just show it to them on your phone or tablet and they can use that too.

Shopping Haul

Yes, it has been a while for a Shopping Haul. Joanns, Micheals and Hobby Lobby, over a couple days of shopping. I got some new carts and lots of needed paper, lol. I also show you the coupons I got at Joanns and what sale is coming up. Open stock paper 6 for 96 cents, I love that sale.

Hello Kitty Valentine

This is my first project as an Exploring Cricut Design team member, well, doing something by my self and not in the challenge we all do.

I created this base card with the Cricut Craft Room Basics cartridge that is free in CCR. I made 2 in the cut file one with heats and one with out. Anyone can download and cut this for free even if you do not own a cartridge. I created this because someone was asking for a card that you did not need an envelope for, something that would close by itself, so created this like a match book. The front of the card I used the Hello Kitty cartridge, I wrote who it is to and then covered it in Glossy Accents, and added red stickles.  The inside I used Celebrate with Flourish and made a pop up, paper I just cut with scissors, I show how in the third video, part 2.

Here is the cutfile for the card base.

Here is the cutfile for the front and inside of card.

This video shows how I did just the Hello Kitty.

This video shows how I made the card base.

This video shows how I made the pop up, you can use this easy technique with any image to make pop up cards.

Girl Scout Cookie Sign

It's that time of year again, this is my niece's first year selling cookies, So I decided I would help. I made this sign to put in my salon so I don't ask my clients if they want to buy them, I don't want them to feel pressure to buy, so I will put the sign up and if they are interested, they will ask.

I used 4 cartridges, I used Jasmine for the font, Paper Doll Everyday for the girl and dress and shoes, Campin Critters for the sash with badges, Sweet Treats for the cookies, although the cut I used for the cookies is actually the center of a flower, not a cookie, but I think it looks like a cookie.

I made 2 videos to show you how to put this together, well I made one and split it cause it was too long. The first one is the girl and cookies being put together and part 2 is mostly in high speed of putting the pieces together onto the sign, good for beginners.

How to add Pinterest button to each post.

Some people have asked about the pin it button at the bottom of each post. That button is to make it easy to pin things you like to your Pinterest board. You can find my boards here.

What is Pinterest you may ask, this is what they say it is.

Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard. (Highly Addictive)

Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.

When you see something you like on the internet and want to save, instead of  bookmarking  it you can just pin it. Why pin instead of bookmark. It's easy to just pin a blog post, maybe you don't want the whole blog or you want to easily find 1 post. It akes it easy to see the pictures and inspire you instead of reading the titles to the websites on the bookmark. You share your interest with others who follow you and like the same things, and see what others are pinning who have the same interests as you.

Ok, so now you know what it is, here is how you can get it on each post in your blog.

1. Copy this code.

2. Once you've logged into your Blogger Account, if you are not in the old blogger interface go there, I'm not sure how to do it in the new blogger interface, go to the Design tab and select Edit Html. Make sure to check the "Expand Widget Templates" box.
As seen here.

3. Look for < div class=" post-footer" >
and paste the code directly after that. If you have a lot on your blog it may take awhile to find it but it is there.

4. Save your template.
5. Check your blog and see it there.

Challenge Me #10

Don't forget the Christmas Haul Give away! A few days left click here to enter.

Ok on to challenge 10, I'm on a roll. If you want to win the paper doll dress up cart the link is at the bottom of this post.

I liked this idea so much I stopped in the middle of another project to do this one, the ideas just kept coming.

Here was the comment that inspired this project.

Melisa Alzammar said...
Here's another idea for you. What about making a sign for a man cave using the Father's Day cartridge.

I really enjoyed making this it was pretty easy. I used faux leather contact paper on a 8x10 canvas and then put the images on the contact paper with pop up squares. I explored the Fathers Day cartridge, and fell in love with it. There are not a ton of images but what are there are great and you can find something for any man. I think a young boy would like his for his room.
Here is the cut file for CCR.

In the video I showed a little bit of how I did it in the Cricut Craft Room and covering the canvas with the contact paper.

Challenge Me #9

Ok so this has been going on for a while, So I am going to put an end to the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge give away. Yes, I am still giving it away but you only have until the end of January and then I will draw a winner.
Here is the comment that requested this card.

Melisa Alzammar said...
Hi, I would like to see a step card made with the Sugar & Spice Lite cartridge. Maybe make a scene with a little girl doing something. Can't wait to see it :)
Melisa really wants this cart because she has entered 3 times. So bring on the challenge.

I have to say I was really challenged, this has taken a lot of time because I had to learn how to do a step card, I have never seen one in person and watched many videos on youtube to see how it's done. I decided I was not doing this to show you how everyone else does them so I wanted to design my own. I saw some that were called center step and some side step cards but could not find one that had a step in front and on the side and that is what I pictured in my head. So this is my own design and I have directions in the videos.

There was alot more I could have done on the card, I used only Sugar and Spice Cricut cartridge, I could have added some flowers and a kite from the cartridge, but I like to leave a little something for others to make it better for them.
Here is the cut file for CCR

The first video shows how to do the card base only so if you want to see how I designed the card base watch this video.

The next video shows how I put together the Sugar and Spice pieces, It shows how they are in the cut file and how the paper is set up on the mat. Most of it is high speed.

Please comment with questions or comment!
Ok now I need another challenge!
Here is the the link to the post with the challenge.

Painting and Melting Crayons

I decided to try to paint and melt crayons at the same time. I painted first with just 3 colors of acrylic paint, yellow blue and black. then i shaved crayons and sprinkled them on the canvas and melted with my embossing heat tool. I wanted some texture still in the painting so I did not melt them totally down. I also bought crayola and an off brand from the Dollar Tree store and highly recommend the crayola brand. They are more expensive but worth it, the others crumble more and are not as shiny, the crayola really are better, better wax.
Here is a picture of the end result and I also made a video in high speed showing some of the process.

Here is the video

Design Team Challenge

I am now on the Exploring Cricut Design Team. This is my first time on the design team I am very excited.
If you are not familiar with Exploring Cricut it is a blog that has a challenge every other Monday and you are welcome to join in on the challenge, just link your project and you could win a great prize. Everyday there is a new project using a Cricut cartridge, a great place for inspiration.

This week our challenge was to make a Winter Wonderland-make card, layout or papercraft creating a winter scene or activity.
Here is my project.
I made a quick card.

I used white cardstock to make a card 5.5 x 4.25 the blue paper is 4.5 x 3.25 and is embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake folder.
The snowflakes coming down the page were from the Martha Stewart Seasonal cake cartridge using white glitter paper. (hard to see the glitter in photo)  here is a cut file for 30 snowflake boarders in ccr.
The snowman and penguin were from the Winter Frolic cartridge here is a cut file for them for use in ccr. I outlined them both with cordinating stickles. (glitter glue)
The snow hill I just cut with scissors and embossed with the Cuttlebug swirls folder.

Now it's your turn to do the challenge here is what you could win.

The prize this week is a 36 cards and envelopes, card pad from K & Co, jewels and pearls, ribbons, and flowers along with a sheet of card rubons. Time to make those thank you cards for your presents or get your cards made for the coming year!
